Engineering Faculty Organize a Global Summit " Sustainability and Climate Change "


The Engineering Faculty at Gaza University organized an international training on sustainability and peace in cooperation between the UNESCO-China office, the International Sustainability Ambassadors Initiative, Save the Children, the National Institute for Development and Environment and a number of universities in Malaysia, Egypt and Pakistan.

The training was inaugurated by Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Director of the UNESCO Office - China, Dr. Ali Mansour, Vice President of the University and Dr. Wesam  Al-Madhoun, Dean of Engineering Fcaulty and Founder of the Global Sustainability Ambassadors Initiative.

The duration of the training was 12 training hours and included the following topics: sustainable development goals, biodiversity, climate change and water and their relationship to global peace, as the trainees were from 70 countries.

In a related context and within the efforts of the University of Gaza in developing international networking and promoting the concepts of sustainability locally and internationally, the university held an international summit to discuss the challenges and opportunities of sustainability globally in light of climate change. The summit was in cooperation between the College of Engineering at Gaza University, the global Sustainability Ambassadors Initiative, the Global Climate Pledge in USA, the Policy Times in India and the Natuf Foundation for Environment and Community Development.

The summit participants discussed the current challenges globally in light of the Corona pandemic, the climate change crisis, and future sustainability opportunities. It is worth mentioning that the speakers were from Palestine, China, Australia, America, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Brazil, South Korea, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
